April is around the corner! With the new month ahead, I've been doing a lot of thinking. I've been trying to be mindful of my current season in life - I want to set new goals, re-prioritize, refocus. Spring kind of does that to people, no? Ahead in April I'm excited to share some of those plans, like Things to Get Done in April (taxes, anyone?) along with things I'm doing to live a greener lifestyle and little goals I'm making for myself for the rest of the year. I'm also planning on trying something I've been meaning to try for a while. I'm going to try a 30 Day Minimalism Challenge. Minimalism can be executed several ways. I'm kind of a low-key hoarder, so my own form of minimalism likely won't be nearly as drastic as some. However, I really like the idea of cutting down to things that are truly meaningful to me - meaningful possessions, routines, and thoughts. On top of the emotional benefits of minimizing my lifestyle, my husband and I live in a fairly tiny apartment. Plus, we plan on moving overseas in the future, so having fewer possessions is just practical. So I'm going to give it a try. To get some ideas, I went to the tried-and-true gigantic filing cabinet of any and every idea ever - Pinterest. I compiled some pins then picked the ideas that resonated with me. Next I looked at the calendar for April and put each idea on an actual day that I felt I would most be able to accomplish that minimalistic "task." For example, I purposefully put large tasks like decluttering my wardrobe on a weekend. Now, this list isn't exhaustive and could definitely be fleshed out over a longer period of time to include things that go beyond simply getting rid of stuff. However, I included a few things that are focused primarily on the mind and heart to hopefully be more mindful of what minimalism is actually trying to accomplish. Here it goes! I still have a few days left in March to prepare for the challenge, and I'll likely let you know how it's going along the way. I'm pretty excited to see how it works out!
Here's to trying new things and pursuing mindful living! Have you tried a minimalist challenge? How did it go?
